What teams can do

Monitor from multiple locations, understand cloud region dependencies, test failover, review backup and restore procedures, and keep incident communication ready for regional outages. Status pages should explain affected regions when impact is not global.

Teams should also check dependencies: payment providers, DNS, CDNs, support systems, and notification channels.

Resilience is preparation

Climate-related incidents may not be fully preventable, but teams can reduce impact. External uptime monitoring, disaster recovery testing, capacity planning, and clear escalation paths all help.

The goal is not certainty. It is being able to detect regional disruption, respond quickly, and communicate honestly when physical-world events affect digital services.
